There are CD emulators available for Fords out there, you'd have to find the closest ford equipment specked car and go from there, just like I did fitting the BMW X5 CD emulator to my 2003 ffrr. Not a straight plug and play affair, but doable.
The only reason I asked about non touch screen, is that 2005 was, as far as I know, the change over year, and as such it would not be inconceivable that it could have the earlier system and be a late registration. There no relation as to the vehicles age verses the registration age. I did stumble on an MGB that was registered NEW, 10 years after they had stopped making them! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I suspect that the FFRR MOST system is out of a US Ford model, and that the American forums would be the best place to search. I would look at the equipment in the Expedition as a good starting point. Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I have just fitted the carcommunications module in place of cd changer and so far impressed. See my post. You remove the cd changer and not the head unit as described in the instructions. Easy enough to fit

The touch screen started with the 5A******** VIN numbers which were introduced in late 2004. September IIRC. John

I DON'T KNOW WHAT A TOUCH SCREEN LOOKS LIKE COS THERE WERE NO FINGER PRINTS Laughing
It looks just like the Non touch screen in the BMW powered FFRR that I have, only mine runs an Ipod and has Bluetooth hands free for under £120, and no paying anyone to enable the bits in the I/K bus or what ever the stealers do to make it all work and then charge you a fortune for Mr. Green Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... @ miggit

You can see from the Mat777's picture that the big knobs bottom left and right of the screen have additional buttons below them. This is the giveaway that it is a touch screen - ironic I know (touchscreen - more buttons ?)

Laughing

Can the radio unit be modded by Baris for an AUX IN ? He did this for me on my BM54 radio unit with non touchscreen head unit (MY02)? This could be one of the cheaper options for @ £50. .

I believe Baris specialises in the BMW kit, of whatever vintage. Our rr's left that fold in 2005, so I'd imagine he won't have knowledge. Ie he is a BMW specialist rather than a Range Rover specialist.

Right, I've been looking in to this, and your financially / audibly screwed Evil or Very Mad

Fist option is the Land Rover kit LR004806 /. VPLME0004, which they say is only compatible with 2007 on, BUT will fit the 2005 ffrr, but has to be installed behind the screen and involves removal of the dash top (easy) and the glovebox. SteveMFr is the chap to talk to as he has done this. But this does come at a cost, everyone's selling the kit for around the 1/2 K mark Shocked

Second you cant fit an FM Audio Modulator, but you will only be able to control volume from the steering wheel, and the sound can be less that perfect. Although I did come across an adapter from Connects 2 that plugs into the aerial lead, and should suffer less from interference.

Thirdly throw the lot away and go the New head / android route, but I have no idea as to what would be involved, I have read that if you brake the fiber optic link it all goes Pete Tong, so I can see the old head unit being moved into the glovebox for starters.

Or you could just copy 6 x 200 Mp3's on to CD's and use the changer, a way cheaper option in my books Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Thanks guys!

That carcommunications unit looks an interesting it of kit, I'll definitely have a look into that or any of the other suggestions about using the CD changer connections. I certainly don't want to start removing the dashboard! Shocked

Thanks
