Paadle shift upgrade to SC 5.0

Hi all,

So I have bought a 2010 5.0ltr and am keen to fit the paddle shifters to the wheel. It all llooks rather simple though I need them to be activated.
I can see that I ccould buy a Faultmate, but at circa EUR1000 thats a heavy investment... Would anybody be able to suggest someone who could activate this for me in East Anglia? I live near Sudbury in Suffolk...

I would clearly expect to pay for this service!

Many thanks

Greg (Proud owner of a Galway Green Supercharged (no tints))

I've done this. If you want to know how (and it's not quite that straighforward) PM me a number to call and I'll talk it though with you.

Key things are:
Paddle shift kit doesn't come with the required plug for the steering wheel
Enabling in the CCF doesn't guarantee it will work.
You probably need custom gearbox firmware - which I know how to get.

The IID toolwill allow you to edit your CCF, as well as access to the required firmware (if needed) at only £350. Much cheaper than the Faultmate

The cheaper programming gizmo feels more reachable.

I must admit I am now questioning the quality of my research prior to ordering the paddles.. I didn't expect the need for gearbox reprogramming. Is this a true custom exercise or just making sure the auto is flashed to the latest firmware?

I notice on Duckworths you can buy a 'Rotary gear selector upgrade' for the SC 2010MY. Is this a plug and play swap? I have noticed that quite a few folks with the rotary wish they had a stick..?!

The rotary is electronic and the stick uses a cable as far as I know. Quite how you'd interchange the 2 I don't know unless there is some kind of interface gizmo. I stand to be corrected here.

But the programming is a hyrid firmware developed by GAP. I tried the 2011MY firmware in mine and it didn't work. GAP have taken the paddle bits from the D4 box and added them to the latest 2010 firmware. GAP also make the IID tool which is a very good thing to have with one of these.

The second item down on the list.

It specifically says that it doesn't include the leather top..

Definitely just the lever thing. None of the rotary knobs have leather.

the standard "turntable" looks different from the one in the link, so the linked one seems to be a "posh"
uprade - less the leather top.
The leather top is just the small round top "lid" which you can change individually.

So my understanding of the link is, you will get a new posh "turntable" and use your old genuine leather lid.

Hi there, in the same boat as you hopefully were with fitting the paddle shifters. My car is a 2009 my2010. 3.6 tdv8. Fitted the shifters having read on another forum that autologic could enable them. NO. Just wondered how and if you sorted yours?. Would appreciate your experiences please. Paul
