Discovery Sport is quite obviously the Freelander replacement, just the next step for the three-family branding (Defender, Discovery, Range Rover).

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Zermatt Silver

Saw one for the first time earlier along the North Circular near Ealing.

Red with black wheels. Not a fan of the black at all. Far too chavvy, but otherwise a reasonably nice looking thing that'll win the hearts of school yummy mummies everywhere, I'm sure.

Sounded very diesely-rattly as I passed it through a set of traffic lights.

Would look FAR nicer with silver wheels. Si. <This is my name.

Rattly - they don't have the new Ingenium engines yet.

I know. That was my point.

I gather the Ingenium units will be a real step forward. Having recently driven a 6 month old Freelander, the engine in that felt flat and pretty lifeless and also pretty agricultural. Si. <This is my name.

What ever it is, I don't like it Sad

I really hope they don't make a big mistake with the Defender replacement Question

Defender is clearly going to have to be a very different thing from the current one.

Think the Discovery Sport looks good (in the right colour scheme). Expect the Defender will be more of a "true" Discovery replacement as that goes less practical and more "lifestyle".
