Cubby hole in boot?

I've just taken delivery of my MY2013 L405, having had a L322 for a few years. Unlike the 322 the 405 has only one recess in the side of the boot, and doesn't have any fixing lugs for a restraint net. This, AFAIK makes the recess unusable for storing small items.
Am I missing something here? Is there a kit which will allow me to fix some sort of restraint across the front of the recess? 2010 TDV8 Zermat Silver with dirty streaks

You are right. It is annoying.

I have not found a perfect solution.

I was going to have a box made to go in the recess and fix it with magnetic clasps or velcro. Too much hassle.

I have the flexible boot liner, so I now put a Tupperware box in there but lift the flap on the liner that extends into the recess. Once it is vertical, it tries to flop back into the recess and therefore it effectively stops the box falling over or sliding around.

Another option would be to screw through the rubber liner into a box to anchor it (but fiddling around with disconnecting it from the liner might be tedious).

I threaded a 5cm broad Velcro strap, about 60 cm long (bought from a hardware store like Homebase) through the air vent grill, one on each side. On the offside it retains a rolled up picnic rug and a soft bag containing odds and ends; the nearside one retains a folding step and folding box in the upright position (just happen to be things I have always found handy to carry). I suspect the grill won’t take a huge weight strapped to it but for that sort of thing it’s fine. Norman

If you use the fixing net from the old car what hooks do you fix it to?

Its amazing how Land Rover have improved the FFRR but have forgotten about practicality. Don't get me wrong I love the new car but wish the rear seats would fold down and the boot had nets to stop the crap I carry around from rolling about.

Also, the hidden door compartments are too shallow to get my sunglasses out quickly. The old roof mounted space was so much better for drivers.Rather than having a choice of mood lighting I wish they would have thought things through from a drivers perspective.

The hole in the side is for placing a set of golf clubs in club bag. Give it a go its a nice touch if you play golf !

I asked by dealer if I could get a set of fixings like the ones on a 322, and the answer was No! Apparently the 322 fixings attach to the bodywork rather than the lining, so cannot be used on a 405 as there are no holes in the bodyshell.

I will now experiment with four of those spiny things used for sticking to carpet. If it works details to follow 2010 TDV8 Zermat Silver with dirty streaks

Is there no way to upgrade to those locking eyelets on the runner rails that they show in the owners manual? The also seem to come with roll out retainers which lock into them to restrain loads? Steve
