I think they are great - but then I am a big VW fan and we always have one as our family hack.

My wife currently has a '64 plate top of the range Passat Estate with absolutely everything on it and its under £200 per month on a PCP having put down a decent deposit. Its very comfortable, has brilliant technology (far better than the RR), does 55mpg on a run and I'm pretty sure it will never break down

It all come's down to whether you are making the decision with your heart or your head

Ultimately Gary you have the benefit of being able to use a RR whenever you want anyway

^ Yes I rarely do not have use of a RR especially when well stocked but it not my normal practise to drive stock cars as I take a lot of time preparing them to ensure they are ready for retail.

As a dealer my business is to make a profit from car sales so losing money on your own car depreciating is to be avoided if possible. I have reduced this factor by facelifting an older Range rover and have been very pleased with it for 18 months.

I am considering the VW Touareg at £8682 total over 24 Months (VAT reclaimed) simply because its a very good deal and a lot of car for the £334pm outlay (£1000 Deposit). A 2015 appeals as I like new technology and a 24 contact with road tax included and only one or maybe two (Cheap) VW Services and no tyres to replace and 42mpg instead of 17mpg ....

Range Rover fuel bill 16000 miles £5647 (17mpg)
Touareg Fuel Bill 16000 miles £2285 (Bluemotion 42 mpg)

That's a £3300 saving plus road tax saving at £570 and we are up to £3870.

Factor in inevitable depreciation on the Range at a very modest £1500 over 24 months due to facelift appeal and we have £5370

I need tyres in 9-12 months so £600 minimum means £5970 and say £400 for minor repairs £6370...

Leaving £2312pa or £96 a month or £3.16 a day extra (Cappuccino) for the privilege of a 10 year newer (Brand New) car.

Man maths is great and servicing will also be cheaper at VW

Going to put it to the wife tonight. (She loves her VW Tiguan Sport)

PS: If I was not a car dealer I would just buy a very late L322 or 2013 L405 and sod the expense but I am.....

Is your experience of MPG in a Bluemotion unit?

I would realisticly expect 35-38 MPG (without Man Maths)

I had a 24 hour test drive last October in a bluemotion and asked if the garage would supply the car with a full tank of fuel I then did 111 miles of mixed driving around town and motorway, when i returned the car I filled it to the brim and it worked out at 33mpg Im sure others might get better but this was how it was with my style of driving The forums premier drug dealer and human trafficking consultant

There is a possibility that the VW dealer gave you the vehicle with "not quite" a full tank (probably enough for the gauge to look like it was fuel) so if you brimmed it there is a chance that you replaced fuel that you did not use and that would have knocked the MPG figures so it may be a bit better in reality. Unless you had brimmed it yourself, you will never be sure.

Not to be pedantic, I am just helping Gary's man-maths along the way here!

Anyway, 30, 35, 40.............It's all a "bit better" that I get out of my SC.

I am going to arrange a test drive today just to see if I could live with it on a daily basis for two years after so many excellent Range Rovers. You never know I may even prefer it
