United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black

I have a Western Digital my cloud EX4 running 4 4tb drives but you can get it in 4 x1tb, 4 x 2tb and 4 x 3tb configurationscas well. Its maybe aimed at a more business environment than home use but works well for me. drives are hot swappable and rebuild time is quite quick. Can be configured in a number of different ways pure 16gb storage, 4gb with 3 copies etc. all controlled through a web interface or via iOS app and android app. The apps allow all you pics from phones or tablets to automatically back up to the device whenever you are on a wifi link and also allow you access content on the device anywhere in the world which works well (obviously dependent on the upload speed of your home connection and subsequent downlink speed whereever you are but I have never had a problem watching content in hotels all round the world) 2008 TDV8

Synology are leading this sector and for one very good reason.

Their kit works, has simple packages and setup for most users but dig deeper for advanced stuff for those of us that want it.
Apps for your phones and tablets.

I have had one for years and upgraded to the 4bay unit last year with 3tb hdd's in it as they were much cheaper than 4tb Smile

Hybrid raid setup and backup to glacier for important photos and documents.

I've set them up in small business's and even the odd gov department(bigger units but still the same underlying os!) and they just plod on for years.

If a disc fails someone gets an email or app alert and the device works around it till its swapped.

When buying the drives buy 2 from one batch and 2 from another. It will reduce the likelihood of drives failing close together 😉 FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Many thanks for all your input.

I purchased a Synology DS415+ which was delivered last Tues with some 4TB WD Red NAS disks arriving the day after.

https://www.synology.com/en-global/products/DS415+

It was a fair bit of outlay, but I'm happy with my choice.

The interface for the OS is really good and it's much quieter than my old 3TB Lacie Cloudbox that had less disks and no big fans !

Important docs will still be in 3 places....

Pleased I've done it now.

I have a Synology DS something or other and it's a pile of junk. Had 2 drives in it, one failed and dropped the entire box to the point where I couldn't access it. Removed the offending drive but not replaced it as yet and it seems to spend more time looking for it than doing what it's designed for. Response time is glacial. Whistle
I can't be ar5ed trying to fix it, so it just sits there with the alarm light flashing and the beep turned off. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
