United States 2008 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Bonatti Grey
Heated Front Windshield only defrosting Driver Side

Hi There

I have a MY 2008 HSE and yesterday I used the front heated windshield - only the left half defrosted.

I know that there are issues with this but I checked the manual and it only lists one fuse for the windshield (along with AC and another item - both of which work)

In the old P38 there were additional fuses in the front engine compartment (I think one per side) - is there someplace else I can check that is not listed in the user manual?

Any suggestions are much appreciated......

I think the windscreen is split in two halves and there is a connector in each corner for the windscreen elements and the wiper strip down the bottom. If only half is working my guess is that one of the connectors may have worked loose.

The connections are under the "A" pillar trims, prise out the ""Airbag" emblem and there is one torx bolt, then pull the trim off towards the centre of the windscreen...

You will then find the connectors which I bet are fine as it's usually the screen itself that fails, several reasons including the failure of the adhesive and just general age...

Handy if you already have a non repairable chip in the screen as you can get a new screen with just an excess payment. The screens are just under £1000 for a genuine Land Rover stamped Pilkington one from JLR...

And you are lucky it's the drivers side that works.... Thumbs Up Pete

Yes, hopefully if you have had it apart recently you will be able to sort it...

My post above is for the 322 as this thread is in the 322 section, I imagine the 405 is similar though... Thumbs Up Pete

🤬🤬
Went out to a restaurant last night, it was very foggy and damp, got in the car to come home and had to wait ages for the screen to de-mist, drivers side heated screen was ok, but nothing on passenger side (rhd car) also I think the heated mirror was not working either, looked in hand book no mention of fuse for front screen. Do they have a fuse for each side, is it connected to the mirror?
Have done a search on here, but still a bit confused as to where to start, I would really appreciate some advice as it’s not a great experience trying to drive with half a windscreen clear.
