opinions please

Hello,

first time post on here but lurking for some time.

I've put a deposit down on this, very happy with it but willing to accept critism or praise

Tony

Scotland 2017 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

Nice clean looking car.
Only 2 things to note, firstly I don't think that's factory fit RSE and the price would be open to negotiation IMO

I would also expect a MD FSH at the low a mileage.

Good luck with it Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Welcome - and good choice on colour, I think it looks very tidy and well looked after - maybe ask the seller if he has the side nets for the boot? Very nice car and hope you enjoy it Smile

right......

that looks like a nice clean motor, it is however difficult to tell from the pics.

Have you read the Wiki section on range rover purchase, it is a good place to start and will pull up the usual suspects in terms of problems that can crop up.

the car looks nice, check the drivers seat carefuly for wear on the outer bolster, these can wear quickly on lighter leathers and if it looks good it is a good indication that the milage is genuine. The tyres also indicate a decent previous owner as they are Pirelli Scorps, which would be the replacement of choice amongst most on here.

TDV8's are prone to alternator and top turbo hose failure at around this milage, so its worth asking the question whether there has been any trouble with these, if not possibly put a bit aside just incase. the hoses are cheap and easy but the alternator can be a bit fiddly.

check the service history. it should have been serviced every year, regardless of milage, check that it has been, and negotiate downwards if not.

check for rust around the rear arches and upper tailgate otherwise the bodywork should be good.

Sand is a marmite colour on the interior. You either like it or not. personally I'm not a fan, and prefer either a lighter leather or black, but if you like it then Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

looks nice,
as i'm sure that you are aware, it might (to most) look better than others, in that it has had a few 'supercharged' style upgrades, (externally) ie rear lights, gills, grill, etc, but still the (maybe original) wheels. the piano black wood is on the same theme.
have a good read of the accompanying paperwork he no doubt has in a folder etc.
i'm not up to date with prices,

Good advice in above posts. Bought mine 18 months ago at 82,000miles & seemed fine when purchased with one owner & FSH but had to make repairs/replacements as follows during first 6 months: front/rear wiper arms/blades (latter fitted during warranty replacement of rusted tailgate lip), professional windscreen scratch removal, alternator checks, new FSR, replacement 110 amp battery, diesel leak on no. 1 cylinder return pipe, new rear discs/pads/callipers, replace bottom turbo to intercooler pipe, replace dual tone horns (one failed), refurb spare alloy wheel. In total cost c.£1500. However, during past year (12,000 miles) the only problems have been - rear PDC wiring loom repair & new coolant header tank sensor. Hope this gives you an idea of what to check & what might go wrong - in the end, its all a matter of luck - things can go wrong which cannot be foreseen & you may want to take a warranty for peace of mind if nothing else. I took a 12 month warranty but that only covered £110 of my first year costs & I haven't renewed for the 2nd year.
Best of luck with your new FFRR & enjoy!

Thanks for the replys gents, much appreciated.

The car has full MD service history with brand new discs and pads all round. got it for less than advertised price plus a new w/screen

I wasn't sure about the sand interior at first but coming from 3 previous audi's all with black interior I felt like a change (although I might still regret this!)

Pick it up at the weekend, I will no doubt have loads of questions to ask so thanks again

Tony

Enjoy!

They are fantastic cars and if looked after properly have the potential to give good service for many years. Just keep a pot to the side in the kitchen and keep filling it with tenners Whistle

Keep an eye in here the friendly folks will be able to help with most questions you may have and offer advice and help where needed Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

You say it has a new windscreen.

From my very recent experience, make sure it's a Pilkington. Non-OE 'screens cause problems, so ensure the auto wipers and lights work properly and ensure it's quiet at 80mph as these cheaper replacements can give high levels of wind noise. It's also possible the fitters didn't replace the pillar fixings.

If it's fine, then you've done well.

Looks good otherwise. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.

looks very nice. Unusual tow bar? do you know what it has towed?

Looks a bit like a drop plat fitting or 'farmers' fitting. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Right, here goes

I haven't collected it yet as the w/screen was being replaced today. The seller has been keping me up to date and says the screen is one of 12 possible types. The one being fitted is heated, tinted, and has a special layer on the inside to enhance the audio. I will check it carefully when i collect.
The RSE is not a feature I was looking for but good to know its OE.
Towbar will probably be removed, it was fitted but never used apparently as the owner passed away before he had the chance to pull his caravan. ( I am dealing with the son of the owner)
