Loud buzzing noise through speakers

Hi there

Hoping to find an answer on here after trawling through the internet. I have a 2003 RR vogue, and about a couple of weeks ago a loud buzzing sound started coming through all the speakers , made no difference is the radio was on or off. This sounds happens as soon as the ignition is switched on. If I turn up the radio, the radio can be heard above this horrible noise. It sounds like a motor is running that is causing electrical interference and there is a pulsing sound as well ( best way to describe it lol) . I have checked for water ingress in the rear compartment and everything is completely dry. Have tried disconnecting the amp and looking at the terminals and all is clean. At the moment I have just disconnected the amp in the boot, so have no radio Sad . Would really appreciate any help with this

Many thanks

Ian

loose wire to one of your door speakers or bad connection/crud on your plug in into amp in rear.

Hi Dolphinboy

Thanks for your reply. Thinking back now over xmas the driver door card was removed by a garage to replace a wingmirror will check this out. Would loose wire on one speaker cause this noise on all the other speakers?

Cheers

Ian

If the wire is touching something else - yes Smile

It is possible they've wired a speaker up to the wrong connector Sad Land Rover Addict

They may have pulled a wire out of the connector in the door card and then it touches something else inside the door (possibly metal) and then causes a short.

Does your car have LED door handle/door bin lights and do they work? Believe it or not the plug that feeds the power to them is the same plug as the midrange speaker!

Makes a horrid racket when you supply 12v to the speaker output Shocked Shocked Shocked Rolling Eyes

I have the same problem, but for me it is the dash dimmer switch tun itup and the speaker in the left rear door buzzes away, turn the dimmer switch down no noise and speaker works as normal, just the usual electrickery, Oh yes but this only happens when i turn on the lights.
Isn,tthat why we call our cars by the feminine ?

Occasionally get a buzzing from the odd sounder. Happens once every 6 months or so. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hi Everyone

Thanks for all your replies, I took the driver side door card off and all speakers were connected, but found that if I disconnected the large speaker at the bottom of the door, the large speaker in the passenger door on the same side and the base speaker in the boot, the sound is clear although very very tinny, another symptom that maybe connected is that the radio tuner does not seem to pick up very many channels, I have heard that these cars have aerial suppressors, could I have blown on of these. The car has got the led in the door handle and these work fine

Many thanks

Ian

I had this on mine and as Craig said the previous owner had connected the 12v feed for the handle/door bin lights to the speaker.
The plug is identical to the speaker feed and once disconnected all was well Very Happy
