£20k premium over an SDV8 Vogue should disabuse them of that notion.

Hybrid does not appeal to me.

Most of that premium us due to the hybrid only being available in AB trim at the moment. That will change.

I wouldn't have thought that LR won't just drop the sdv8 without some viable alternative. The v6 is a fine engine but that model is a different beast altogether with no active suspension options etc. it is very unlikely that they will suddenly start to sell the hybrid in the same quantities the sdv8 so I would have thought some viable alternative will be in the pipeline at the new engine plant ready for the change over. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20
I swear you will never see anything like this ever again....watch it..drink it in.

Why is the hybrid not a viable alternative? Same performance with better economy and quieter. All they have to do is make it available in Vogue and Vogue SE trim levels which I assume they will when the V8 diesel is discontinued.

Extra weight, additional complexity, unproven reliability (how long has it been delayed?), no performance advantage and a price premium at the same trim level.

I have a rental VW Golf just now with it. I turn it off as it's a real liability, especially in rush hour traffic. Imagine the scene. You're draw up at a roundabout, brake and the car turns itself off as you sit and wait for a gap in the (almost constant) traffic coming onto said roundabout.

You see a gap, you lift your foot off the brake, the car thinks about it for a split second, starts and by the time all this has happened, the gap has gone! Might be good in a traffic jam, but not at a busy junction at rush hour! Rolling Eyes Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Mercedes-Benz system works great. Even holds you at traffic lights /in traffic etc with no feet on the pedals. When you depress the accelerator, engine is started, brakes are released and you're on your way! Wish LR had rights to 'HOLD'.

The TDV8 is 200kg heavier than the TDV6. That's a lot of batteries.

The most annoying thing about turning the S_S off is the fooking bright orange light on the dash Censored

Hybrid is slightly lighter than the V8 diesel. Plus the weight of the batteries is in the right place rather than strung out over the front axle. Granted, the technology is relatively new and adds conplexity but one has to progress Very Happy The price difference is negligible in the scale of things at this price point.

I agree. However, the lack of adaptive dynamics is a bit of a pain I feel.

Anybody know why this isn't compatible with the HEV?

Would rather go for a stronger V6 and forgo the battery weight. If BMW can make the N57S ...

Dynamic Response? Not sure. It's described as an optional feature in some LR literature (which then goes on to say it isn't available on the Hybrid).

Hybrid can only tow 3000kg too.

Agree, this is the main drawback. The Sport Hybrid has it though so it should be compatible.

Interesting...

The s/s is, I suspect, a matter of personal taste for many. For us, it's just horrible so we turn it off upon start-up every time. Even on the petrol engine, the start-up introduces NVH and it's just not consistent with the wafting, luxurious feel the car should have. In hot weather, the engine can't stay dormant for very long in any case, so all a bit silly... First World problems, granted, but still...

We're just about to swap from 5.0sc to SDV8, which I'd noted does not have s/s. We borrowed an SDV8 RRS before Christmas and thought that car/engine combo was very, very impressive. RRS just too small inside, though, to use as a family bus...and it's a Sport (amazing how killing to attractiveness perceived image can be...).

So, we are about to embark on SDV8 life. Agree with Trommel, the HEV is not a substitute for the V8 diesel, let alone the V6 diesel. The Porsche products that are moving from V8 atmo petrol to V6 turbo are losing their soul...

Get them whilst we can.
