Personally I am never keen on painted pillars and certainly not mudflaps and other trim... Its not that awful though and fairly east to sort.

That's the keyword "personally" why aren't people allowed to their own taste. The previous owner of that car thought it was nice, might not be your or our taste, so what, it was his car.
