Copper coloured particles in expansion tank and noises.

Hello all
Not had the Rangie for long but have noticed more and more 'belt' noise coming from the engine bay. Had a check over everything today and found copper coloured particles in the expansion tank. They're in suspension in the fluid and gather like sand on the float of the indicator. It looks like the Rad is relatively new but I'm concerned it might be the water pump starting to quit. The coolant is a clean pink and hasn't lost any in the last 1000 miles.
Wondering if anyone has any experience with this? After the usual searches, I don't think its K Seal unless it wasn't flushed properly after a rad change.
Also, another noise I've noticed, if you start the engine about an hour after a run, it makes one hell of a good rattle for a split second. It's the only time you hear it but sounds like it's from the underside ie Transmission.
Many thanks in advance:-)

Sorry Robbo that sounds like K seal. The rattle might be the starter disengaging mine (td6) rattled until I replaced it. Mine was a blue one! Smile

I'd not heard of it before:

(for those too frightened to ask! Shocked ) .

Looks like the rad was changed 18 months ago for a leak and suspect that previous owner had tried it before shelling out. It's going back to the dealer under warranty tomorrow so will get them to sort it out (rear screen wash cleaning the inside of the boot)
If that sound is the Vanos, I only hear it on warm start. Would the Vanos not be a consistent noise? I was thinking TC or chain guides?
