my RR is 4.4 tdv8 2012, its just 50,000 miles now. regarding the gearbox service , I checked with the maid dealer service department and a LR technician, they are all saying that for this gearbox, it is not nessassery to do the gearbox, just do it according the the remmended intervals will be fine, but on this forum, some chaps here are saying do it ealier will prolong the gearbox life.
thus a bit confuse to me, do or not to do? please kindly advice, as i havent drive with Automatic gearbox car before, so not sure if I should do it now or not.

10years/150k miles is the recc time for it (below links might not be for your year/ model of car but guidelines will be the same):
" Change automatic transmission fluid and filter (10 years or 150k miles)"

Seasoned forum members and professionals will say have it done early/ whenever you become alert to the fact that it can be serviced.

Your car will be under LR warranty too mind and if anything goes awry during the period of your warranty, it should be covered owing to the age of the car, the mileage it has covered and the existence of your LR warranty.

Your call basically!

I can never get my head around this "sealed for life" statement, or "the oil will last for 10 years" must be very good oil........

Have a read of this .............and change your G/box oil and filter regularly

I changed the oil and fillter in the TD6 every 30,000 and never a problem the TDV8 is going in this wednesday to get done and will be done every 30,000 from now.

Oils dont last for years.........

Why on earth do they still insist on 150k 10 years sealed for life rubbish have they not learned from previous models that these guidelines are useless, why not just set a realistic schedule ( VW dsg-40k lexus rx-60k). What is the reason for the as ZF the manufacturer of the box has a service schedule but LR, BMW etc all just decide to ignore this and tell the customer something completely different. seems manual gearbox more easy to maintain, my 10 years passat has 200,000 miles on the clock and gearbox oild never changed and still runs smooth.

30-40,000 miles seems to be about the right time to do an oil service. But you should check what effect that might have on your LR warranty. .

ZF, the gearbox manufacturer, states that the gearbox oil needs FLUSHED between 50-75k miles, depending on use.

If you leave the oil.until 150k, it is highly likely you will cause irreparable damage to the gearbox

I had mine done last week at 75.000 and the oil was "camo" green compared to the new green-tinted transparent oil.

magnets had metal gunk over them, nothing crasy, but still. Again, if Gbox manufacturer says 50.000, there must be a reason.

LR and other brands just give stupid digits in order to lower the servicing costs for lease/company car scheme.

seems answer is clear now, a transmission oil change should carry out. should I also request transmission oil filter and coolant change as well?

note this is was a complete flush (100% of the oil was replaced), not just a drain and fill (still better than nothing).

Trany oil filter is mandatory when draining indeed.

I did not get the engine coolant done, if you could it would be great of course. I did get it done on my 2003 4.4L V8 on last month when we prevently replaced all rubber hose, the rangie being 12 years old now and 70.000 miles.

Our 3 year old coolant is probably alright but of course, new would be better. I will ask my mechanic about it.  l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

I wouldn't say the filter is mandatory, its more of a strainer to stops any large lumps of gearbox internals flowing.through the box

But then if that has happened, you have more issues than just a blocked strainer

For reference, this was the oil from a 70k TDV8 FFRR...
It should be a nice honey colour
