Polybushes (Polyurethane Suspension Bushes)

There now seems to be a lot of these coming on the market for the L322

Just thought I'd share a bit of personal experience, have tried just about every make of Polyurethane Suspension Bushes on many Land Rover products....

People usually swap to them when their original bushes have failed and then think they are great because, lets face it, a bush made from plasticine would be an improvement.

I have never found them to last as long as original bushes, on road vehicles they do last a year or two, if you use yours for more adventurous activities then they will quickly fail, and when they do I have had them literally fall out of the bush and leave you needing a tow to prevent damage to suspension components. Worn originals at least let you use your truck until you can get a new one...

I fell for all the claims and hype believing them to be superior to original bushes when they are definitely not, they are no more compliant, give no more flex and as stated last for a short period of time.

The best and most cost effective bushes are originals or OEM supplier, they fit exactly and last for years... Pete

I used to use flow flex bushes on my challenge defender. Purely because they were easier to change. I agree, oem are better by far.

^ agreed with above, the soft polybush on my challenge 90 too, but the anti roll bars on the D1 and FF are poly but not the rear on the 110. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

I did the same on the p38 n and yes it was easier to change a bush but the ride quality was not as good and they fell to bits after a third of the time as for off road - rubbish have to say oem is the way to go usually more of a pain in the but to change but then you don't have to so often
great post for the less experienced Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Australia 2008 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Rimini Red

I have been kicking around here longer than most and in that time I have never heard a good report of polybushes on a L322 , they ruin the ride and don't last anyway , plus some people recon they over stress other parts in the suspension.

Years ago I fitted a set on my Defender because every body does but I couldn't feel much difference . 2008 MY Supercharged

Scotland 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Santorini Black

I fitted them to a classic along with air shocks and it transformed the ride so much that when I sold it the new owner said the anti roll bars make a huge difference , I had to advise him there weren't any anti roll bars.

Also had them on a P38 and again a big improvement.

Ian

Ian, as I said you will get an improvement because the old bushes would be worn, the thing is, they don't last very long at all and are not as good as originals.... Pete
