Colour coding???

What do people think about colour coding?

Im going to get some done, I know the grille and the side vents will look ok, as will the bonnet heater vent, as others have done this.

I intend to do the grille parts in high shine black with silver flecks and the surrounds body coloured. Same with the front grille, but keep the chrome trim.

What about the A pillars and the pillars at the rear?

The a pillars on my disco 3 were body coloured and it looked ok.

What are peoples opinions please?

Purists don't like external pillars coded... Spoils the so called 'floating roof' design and feel that it can look 'too much' on the L322... Others will say, it's you'd motor, do it for you and nobody else.

I'm thinking about buying Powerful UK door handle and wing mirror covers because it might 'lift' wee bits and seasoned forum members rate them, but I also like the totally original look so not finally decided.

I've yet to read a post where someone says they put colour coded handles and mirror covers on but they changed them back to the original factory look. If there are such posts/ there probably are mind, I've missed them

Thumbs Up

Not the pillars, Range Rovers look better with the floating roof, but that's Imo Thumbs Up If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Painted pillars on your Disco looked right. They suit the overall look of the Disco. As for your RR its down to you. I have a Java black car and I just keep the pillars clean so that they have a sheen to them.
However it is your car and you must mod it to suit your tastes and the smile on your face. Travelling around in circles again.

What's even odder about that car is that it's advertised as a sport Whistle Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Looks good in silver. Not worth the bother if you have a black car. Travelling around in circles again.

This is always gonna have half that like and half that don't....please don't take this as criticism..

As a former D3 (zambezi) owner myself I'd say you took it a bit far with the silver (though I think it looks well with the de-tango/handles/mirror caps/grill/D4 vent etc)...I'd be thinking around not doing pillars with a FF. I think the look and value suffers hugely.

I have a mate with a silver RRS and that's been fully coded, even the mudflaps.....it looks awful IMHO and he's now thinking of having it in to the paint shop to return it to the correct look as it's been on sale for 4 weeks without a single serious buyer

I noted your calipers were red....I'd avoid that too, leave it for the Subaru boys Whistle

Thumbs Up Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Ah, callipers were red as i fitted brembos to it. And in my opinion brembos must be red. Laughing

No, opinion is divide and thats what make the world go round. Each to there own, you see so much criticism on forums, people put up a pick and get torn to pieces for something they like but others don't.

Im a big believer of keeping things factory but like to add subtle changes to personalise a car. After all thats what most on forums are like, car enthusiasts.

My missus for example drives our audi a5 cab to and from work every day, never washes it, never hoovers it out, doesn't really put any thought into it, its not that she doesn't care, its just that it doesn't bother her.

Two very different views. I just have to grit my teeth as she bumps it up the curb etc! Censored

I think i will get the other bits done first and then take stock on the a pillars. Maybe buy a second set and have them done so i can compare the two. I will be sure to put up pictures.
