First post so here goes.

Bought a 2002 TD6SE a few weeks ago after owning a Classic for a number of years.. The paintwork and interior of the TD6 was in dire need of some tlc as the previous owner was of the horsey or farming variety.
I have detailed the paintwork but am struggling with the plastic area at the bottom of the doors which seem to be almost impossible to get the scratches and swirls off so any advice gratefully received.

I also have problems with swirl marks in the lower panels - I think it is something to do with the material and paint. Being GRP (or similar) perhaps the paint is softer ??, its really odd because the body panels polish up nicely yet the lower door panels still have imperfections and no matter how hard you try they won't come out.

Mind you as they are the lower panels and reflections off them don't catch the eye as they are angled slightly downwards I don't feel that it really matters I've got bigger body imperfections to worry about - caused by branches, mud, fences and podgy tummy...

Yes, a fantastic Job.

I use a rotary polishing machine to remove the worst of the swirls and marks. The vehicle was washed then clay-barred and washed again, then Farecla G10 cutting paste was applied by machine before applying A Grade Polish again by machine. Once this was done the whole vehicle was again polished with A Grade by hand so remove any minor marks and get into the corners the machine misses. Next two coats of wax are applied to seal the paintwork from the elements.

Assuming you have the Makita type (or clones) of polisher - 9 inch grinder style.

Menzerna orange pads.
3 or 4 spots of pad lubricant (Gloss-It Pad Prime)
some Menzerna SS100 polish (one grade more aggressive than regular 3.02)

Because the panel is plastic it can heat up very quickly which isn't good as I'm sure you know

Work the machine at low speed (900rpm) as if you were spreading the polish but keep working it at this speed rather than using the zenith method to break down the particles. Work large areas at a time so there is plenty of cool down time between passes. That's how I did mine and they came up a treat.

You can then finish off with some Menz 85RE for a deep gloss.
