in car tracker for £24

i came across this unit which when installed in your vehicle ,you can call it and it'll give you its location via text...it only costs £24 and i windered if anyone has one or any thoughts on it.

there's also this one which is £16 and seems to be more of a portable unit but appears it can be fixed in a car as well,

I would be wary of just how cheap that is Stan... Will it work at the critical moment Rolling Eyes

i'm thinking its better than having nothing and the odds of having your FF stolen and this unit not working must be very low.. ... - .- -.

Stan

I've had one of these in the last three off roaders I've had

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Real-time-GPS-tr...338e348996

Always worked perfectly, this one comes with a remote that means you can set it without having to text it, they also do an App for it which allows you to set geo fencing and a host of other things

I also pushed the boat out, and for another £1.99 got a movement sensor

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Shock-sensor...4ad2813fe5

As I say, all have worked perfectly and I could even find out where my old vehicle was a year after I sold it as the guy never bothered to update the default number it worked on...

Well worth it..... Pete

No brainer for that kind of money..I just ordered another 2 for my dads VW 1971 T2 Bay Camper and his 1966 Beetle. Will geo-fence them on-line and if they move, he'll get a free email (and / or SMS message for £1 if he wants.,)

Many come with a lifetime web-based tracking= and they're dead easy to fit and hide being the size of a fag packet. Thumbs Up GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

But IF your RR got stolen, would you want it back?? Would it not be a hot patato in the eyes of the insurance company ? If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Haylands, how difficult is it to wire up the one you suggest? I just looked at it on ebay and the amount of wires have given me a headache. I'm crap at wiring anything. Travelling around in circles again.

I am sure Pete will answer for himself....but seeing as I fitted one yesterday I can say that whilst you can connect every wire, it is not necessary unless you want to use every feature ( unauthorised access alert, SOS button, shock sensor , fuel cut off)

In my case, I just wanted to know that I can track the car via the web or via SMS whenever I wish so I only connected 2 wires ( live and neg) only. It works fine. I cut the other wires off.

I geo- fenced so if the car moves outside the area that I set online, I get an alert.

It won't be long in the future before we can set the nav to return the car back home! I think I will be fitting one of these, I will probably wire a taser to the seat heater element too. Whistle

What Paul said, I wired mine to the interior lights as the wire was nearby, but you only need the + and -

The extremely expensive adjustable shock sensor is just plug and play....

You have to find somewhere for the fag packet main box and run the GPS and phone aerial to a decent place

If you PM me and promise not to nick my FF I'll tell you a good place...!!! Pete
