Do you mean rusting and the heads coming off?

No if you use screws these are secured by drilling into plastic panel . Once removed (flaps) you will have holes in the panel. I fitted flaps thinking the car looked best with them but on reflection I prefer no flaps but it proved too late as I had drilled holes. If you must have them leave them fitted as they are that way should you ever want to remove them you wont have any holes to cover up. Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

I might try a hair dryer then to see if I can shape them in a little.

Any thoughts on a heat gun or would hair dryer suffice?

Ok resolved. Took both off, fitted some number plate double side tape inside the mud guard to hold to the bodywork.

Brackets were OK, messing around with the brackets would have made no difference. They are now snug against the bodywork. It was actually the rubber/plastic edges of the mud guard that didn't seem flat and ever so slightly curled.

Actually noticed a 2008 TDV8 RRFF today that had much worse gaps than mine originally had on the front and rear so it seems like a tricky thing to fit snug, or over time they just weather.
