United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Java Black

Just been on their site to have a quick look.

Other than the interior pics, the exterior shots look pretty identical down to the dirty tow hook Confused

I'll hold my hands up now and admit I generally prefer to by privately to avoid paying someone to do homework I can do, and have nobody to blame but myself if I end up with a dog, but both these cars seem to be proper dealer money, in which case.... why wouldn't you go to a LR dealer or LR Specialist Dealer (like Craig / Gaz...).

Please note I'm not in any way urinating on what has to be an exciting time ahead when you go to collect your cars, but I always wonder about what makes people spend "proper money" with completely independent dealers..... especially when buying black Range Rovers from someplace deep in Essex.

Other than that - Congratulations and I do hope you're as excited as I am every time I treat myself to a new car Thumbs Up

The one I've put a deposit on (having looked it over) is 11 plate 53K mile 4.4 VSE. There was another 60 plate VSE with 65K on the clock and rear DVD which was sold before I arrived on Thursday pm.

So mine

The other one which was sold

The 60 plate was the one I went to look at....and ended up buying the other one !

The pictures in the adverts are of the correct cars as the seat colour is different and you can see that on the exterior shots.

Silversurfer, if I could have found a vehicle of that spec mileage and price at a main dealer I would have gone to them however I've been monitoring stock for around 3 months and this one was the best match I could find.

I was quite restricted in that despite trying to wean myself on to other colours deep down I always preferred black and I really wanted rse as a treat for the kids. Obviously ipads were an option but my 5 year old is clumsy and likely to mess with things so I thought that with the factory system I can press play for her and then nothing will go wrong during the journey.

Although as always happens after you commit, loads of other lower price options will probably show up now!

I couldn't contemplate spending this sort of money privately I don't have enough technical knowledge to avoid buying something that breaks immediately after, at least with a garage you have your legal rights and some sort of warranty.

Jeff when do you pick yours up, I probably have to wait until next Saturday until I can make it down.

Not knocking either of you for your decisions at all.

Next to buying property your car will probably be your most expensive investment so it should be exciting and as such I am excited for you both.

And..... although I love buying cars (privately) I hate selling them so have often considered going to a dealer just for the option of chopping an old in with the deal.

Unnecessary quote removed

I searched a lot over the last months but wasn't prepared to travel long distances to view and, potentially, reject cars. I've seen a lot of crap 2nd hand FFRR (been to Saxtons and others) so when I saw the condition of this one at Quirks it was worth the deposit.

As I said I went up there for the one you have bought but that had already been moved to prep before I got there. They had the £32950 sign on the £35950 one at this point hence why I got sucked in (my budget was £34K) but with a decent, straightforward, bid for my Jag XF and a decent PCP finance deal it made sense to get the lower mileage/slightly younger one.

I did look in the local LR dealer and on various stock lists and there are very few 4.4 TDV8s around with LR dealers wanting a lot more dosh for a Vogue than I paid for the VSE.

I have friends who live in Essex (!) and they all say good things about Quirks.

They are servicing/MoTing the car as well as changing the wood colour from the Orange wood to Piano Black so it is likely I'll not get the car till next Saturday either.

Congrats on the new motor Jeff. I also looked at some on Quirks before finally getting my S/C from Ongar Bridge Motors, also in Essex. I'll look out for you as I am only just down the road from Tonbridge in Offham. Bung some pics up when you have got it! Thumbs Up Very Happy SDV8 AB MY 2019
