Terrain response defaulting to Grass, Gravel, Snow??

Morning All,

The Terrain response on my brothers car is defaulting back to Grass, Gravel, Snow every time he starts the car.

Not particularly an issue today as it's snowing, however it will need sorting.

Any ideas? Google doesn't seem to have anything for me!

Cheers

Seems odd, mine always starts in Default even if I park the car with GGS set.

If mine has been in GGS, and when I start it up it's around zero degrees or less it seems to go back to that setting. My 2010 would stay in whatever setting it was turned off in. Land Rover Addict

The "Zero degrees" thing is interesting, that was one theory I had, but seems odd.

Parked the car last night in GGS and this morning when I got in the car and it was -2 it was still in GGS. Does that help?

i had this happen today also, but never done it before even when it's been very cold. usually no matter what it's set to, when you turn the car off it starts again with all special programs switched off.

every time i started today it came up on the display as GGS and i had to turn it off using the terrain response knob.

just a bit annoying though not the end of the world, but not right either!!

did anyone find out a good reason for this happening? Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

I have this today. Admittedly it has been in GGS for the past 3 days - but I switched it off in town today and it was off when I switched off the car but when I got back in and started it it had defaulted to GGS. The temp was in the positives today as well.

Odd. And not the usual SpecialPrograms off you get with the low battery.

Mine is doing the same, Rolling Eyes yesterday i set off and selected snow dropped off child and came back to car and it had selected normal so had to re select snow. Hit Tarmac so re selected normal. When setting off home it had set itself back to snow, so had to re select normal. Did this after two stops on way home and again this morning and again setting off from work. Temps been around 5-6 so not cold. Does my head in. Evil or Very Mad

Yip. RTFM Embarassed

If the ignition is switched off with the GGS on, the car remembers that for 6 hours. No matter if you manually switch it off when you start again.

Other morning I switched off whilst in GGS and in less than 5mins came back and it had reset to normal. But a few times after that I've switched off in normal and it's gone back to GGS.

Anyway, been out tonight and when I first switched it on it was in normal, but it did say that on the middle of the dash, which it normally wouldn't. ie, saying special program's off. Any how went out to a friends and parked up. So it has started off in normal and parked up in normal and at no time I switched the terrain knob to any other setting. I came back to the car after around 10-15 mins and when I started it it was back in GGS. So on way home I switched the terrain knob through all the settings. The whole lot, so I'll see what setting I get in the morning. Whistle
On the freelander no matter what setting you have had the terrain control setting in, it reverts back to normal every time you restart. Even after short periods of time. Same in the D3.

Yes, I thought I had cracked it but, Banging Head No!

This morning it was still on (car parked for 13 hours). But I didn't think the power delivery had changed and it drove like normal - no change between power in normal and GGS.

Anyway, I have cleared all faults with the IIDTool to see if that helps (no specific faults noted).

Maybe a re-set all ECU's maybe better but will see what the setting is on when I get in the car to go home!

This morning it said no program's and was in normal. Dropped child off and came back to car after 5mins and it was back in GGS. Came home this afternoon, no mention of special program's and was in normal and has been since. I've used the car about 6 times and no mention of special program's and been in normal every time. Touching wood again as I type. Whistle

Had this the other day - managed to reset it by turning the ignition to position 2 (ie full elec but not starting the engine), waiting for the TR to show it was in the snow setting and then switching TR back to normal.

Turned the ignition fully off then immediately restarted the car and it was working as normal.

Could just have been lucky!
