ok why does it cost an extra £25 to pay for only 6 months tax rather than the full years amount..its all online now so theres no way it costs that much in admin fees...

Always better to pay car tax upfront if you can - By far the best VFM.

Just done mine monthly as felt this was the best value for money plus if I sell the car I just cancel the DD. Cheaper than 2 x 6 months and no refund to reclaim |

I'm putting all of mine over to monthly DD when they come up as it's easy and you don't subsequently forget as you're not now staring at a Tax Disc every time you get in the car.

I've got to tax my motorhome and, from Mark's comments, I think monthly will work out well as I only need pay for the months he's in use. I was going to SORN him in November anyway for his winter rest, but paying monthly should make this even easier. Si. <This is my name.

I'd be willing to bet the government change the rules on monthly payments though in the next year to make you commit to 6 months or 12 months DD....

I have 2 of my 3 vehicles on monthly payments now and will put the 3rd on when due. On my main 2 which are used year round no real difference except not having to apply for a refund if I sell but does avoid taxing 3 in 3 months ( none in the lower bands) so spreads the cost evenly.

Paying monthly attracts a 5% surcharge so there is no way that it could be regarded as best VFM. Without doubt, it's easy and convenient though but they know this, hence the premium!
You don't apply for a refund any more, the balance of tax is automatically sent to you by DVLA when they do the V5 change of keeper details. ![]() 2019 Renault Zoe Dynamique Nav ![]() |
