You need a charger with a "supply" function - the manual for the MXS 7.0 will tell you if it has this (off the top of my head it doesn't) |

Martin, From the CTEK website for the MXS7.0 " It also has a power supply mode which allows the battery to be disconnected from the vehicle without losing important configurations. " Would that cover the requirement? John

The 7 will be fine, providing your battery is fully charged, and in good condition to begin with

I have the ctek 7 charger and an IID tool. Why does it take 70 mins ? Admittedly I have Navcoder and it takes less than 10 seconds to select the option and send to unit.

It takes 70 minutes to re-write the firmware to the Nav screen |

So it's a firmware upgrade rather than just a setting change ?

There is a CCF edit, which takes around 30 seconds, then 2 large firmware updates, at around 35 minutes each
