Heater blower behaviour question | |
Had my '08 Vogue for 2.5 years now. This winter I've been using the heater daily on cold morning and evening commutes, which is about 30mins. This week here in central Germany it's been generally 1 or 2 degrees above or below zero all day. I always let the engine get to normal running temperature before turning on the heating and I always just control it with the auto setting as that always works fine for me. I have left and right temp controls set to 20 degrees.
Previously I thought the the lights around the central blower switch came on an went off proportionally to the strength of the blower. Is this correct or do the lights indicate something else like approximate cabin temperature?
This week I noticed how the blower would come on strong after turning on the auto mode and the lights would illuminate accordingly (e.g. about 5 of 7 would light up initially). Soon after, however, the blower speed reduces again to a lower setting but the lights stay at 5 of 7, only going out at a much slower rate.
The car still seems to get nice and warm so I ask whether this indicates a problem or whether this just the auto mode doing what it thinks is best?
I have the face level vent temp control at half blue, half red but I've read it's better to leave at full red so I don't know if that may be the cause. Maybe it's just me and I haven't noticed this behaviour sooner. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black
