Engine fail safe question

Yesterday I had a engine fail safe alarm on dash message centre.
Having just removed and replaced right hand cam cover gasket and changing spark plugs I assumed I had disturbed something and caused the fault.
BUT, I noticed my service check milage was in negative territory so I did a manual reset on the check engine service light (which wastnt illuminated) AND the engine failsafe fault was gone, and RR is now running fine again.

Question, is Land Rover that low that they disable a vehicle via a preset millage counter if the vehicle is not serviced and the computer reset?
If so I am truly gobsmacked that there is such a feature built into the system.
Or a coincidence and I will see a a fault again soon?

No connection to the service indicator that I am aware of. You may or may not see it again. Is there a fault code logged? 2006 4.2 SC

I dont have an OBD reader.....unfortunately.
I did see what looked like a date in the message centre as I was fiddling 9/12, i assume that was the last time the vehicle was interrogated.
Covered 80kms today and its running very nicely.

You could have reset it by cycling the ignition my friend? Or... your battery could have been slightly low and it simply through a strop! Thumbs Up
