Very Cool Weather-Wash Rover Now Wont unlock or start

Washed rover on 1/7/15 (it was -15 degrees)at indoor car wash. Today got up
early to go out and warm rover up before heading out to make runs before going
to work and was able to unlock doors(heard unlock and saw latch stems go up)
with remote. Walked around and was able to open ALL doors with resistance
(frozen from previous days wash). When trying to close ALL doors, the front
driver & passenger doors would not close/latch. Finally sat inside and was able
to close both doors.
Now I’m locked inside and unable to unlock front doors. Crawled to back and
unable to unlock rear driver-side door, but was able to get rear passenger side
door unlocked.
Entered back in from rear passenger side and crawled to driver side to start
rover to warm up,
maybe this would help with doors, no good. The key is not unlocking the steering
wheel nor is it unlocking the ignition!!!arrrgghh!!! What I do hear down were
the key goes in is what sounds like something is constantly on and the lights
that light up the gear selector stays on even after exiting the rover and
engaging the locks with key fob.
I try opening the front doors from the outside, unable to open even after
hearing the doors unlock and seeing the inside door latch/locking stems rise,
however I can open both rear doors.
I enter back inside from the rear, close door, I can open both rear doors from
inside latch.
Crawl to front, unable to open front doors from inside latches. I connected
battery charger, maybe battery is a little too low to see what happens in a few
hours. I remember if there isn't enough juice in battery, you won't be able to
get ignition to start. Would be nice if I had a heated garage/auto start to help
heat rover up (next day)after car wash in -5 to -30 degree weather. Don't know
if this has anything to do with my issue but... Other than that, I don't know
what to do.

Granted, this only happens when the weather is -10 to -30 degrees after washing
(happened last year- just started backup after weather improved). If not washed,
no problem

Try disconnecting the battery for a while, may reset everything...

The red light by the gearstick should stay on for around 16minutes when you get out and lockup, FF stays awake for that long before having a kip.... all normal.... Pete

Haylands,

I was about to disconnect battery, but everything else was working.

I was able to jiggle steering wheel and turn ignition at same time, this allowed
me to start Rover.
I ran for 15-20 mins to heat up interior. All electricals working (i.e. windows,
mirrors, radio.
Master Central locking button (could hear mechanism/see latch stems/pins rise
and lower), however front driver /passenger side interior latches would engage,
but doors would not open.
I connected IIDToolBT to scan any faults. Results:

IPC-Instrument Pack

• U0248-87 (2F) Lost communication with remote driver utility
module - Bus
signal/message failure - missing a message

SASM-Steering Angle

• U0122-87 (2Cool Lost communication with vehicle dynamics control
module -
Bus signal/message failure - missing a message

SCLM-Steering Lock

• 0x1C Unlocking error
• 0x17 Locking operation error

I cleared faults, the only one cleared was 'SLCM-Stering Lock. The other two
re-appear.

Also, from IIDToolBT>Live Values>Battery Voltage = 14.0v/14.1v (Actual
13.8v/13.9v)

On the exterior, I inserted key (driver door) and tried turning key, it would not
turn. I pulled latch, holding latch I was able to turn key. upon releasing
latch, from this point on I'm able to use key. while turning key, doors locked
and unlocked, however I was still unable to open doors. The handles feel really
loose, not grabbing/catching. Could this be the cables frozen from moisture/water
from car wash?
I tried the super-lock function and it's not that.

Finally got both front doors opened!!!!
While car running (to heat up interior)15-20ms, I Sprayed WD-40
(http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post188486.html?highlight=unlock#188486)
down both interior pop up pins. open with latch and press down pin. Continue doing this
(one side at a time) until door opens.

Would not have been able to figure this out if it wasn't for you guys here on fullfatrr!!!
Thanks!!!

Hope this helps anyone else in cold climate, especially in ILLINOIS.

Glad you got it sorted...

Sounds like water ingress that has frozen...

Either don't wash it again, or if you do soak the locks with de-icer

Personally I don't wash them when it gets below 1degC Pete
