Air intake vacuum pipe loose - big problem?

Was watching the RSW video on changing the top coolant hose where he mentioned being careful to remove the 2 vacuum hoses that run into the side of the air intake pipe.

Anyway I was inspecting my coolant hose and noticed that the smaller of the 2 vacuum pipes was loose (rubber seal/connection has perished). Its the darker hose in the first picture.

Does anyone know where the other end connects to and or if its an urgent requirement to replace? Car has been running well but don't know when it perished. I need to do a 250mile round trip this weekend and wonder if I need this fixed first.

Thanks in advance

Mine was split at the end and disconnected when I bought it, cut the end off, and stick it back on again... can't say I noticed any difference in driving so I wouldn't worry too much about it.... Pete
