fuel burning heater.

Strange but does anyone have any idea why the fbh should come on after moving my car a distance of approx 15 meters. Car was warm as I had just been out in it. Its happend before once where I had done same thing, but only moved it from the road to my drive and after locking car i noticed the smell of burning fuel and the heater was on. Turned ignition on and off again and it stopped. Car is 2007 vogue se tdv8

The FBH comes on to assist when the outside temperature is low when you start the car. The FBH has a set amount of time it can run before it switches off from what I understand. I too have the issue where it stays on when moving the vehicle from the drive to the garage for example.

What could be happening is that the programming lets it run for a bit of time to ensure that it doesn't foul up from quick start stop type action. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

As previously said, all is fine.

As soon as you start the car the FBH dosing pump activates and sends a small amount of fuel to the heater to assist with the engine warm up in cold temperatures.

Even if you switch off the ignition, the FBH needs to complete its cycle and will run for a few minutes until the dosed fuel is used.

Thumbs Up
