Just fitted my new steering wheel

The steering wheel on my 2010 was shiny, think it had been cleaned a bit on the harsh side, so I got a new one, including electric motors and stalks from a 2013 for 100 quid, bargain.

Like new and hardly used and as a plus it has paddles.

Fitted it today and now all i need is for my iid tool to turn up in the post so i can turn them on!!!

Steve

Is yours a 3.6? If so, the paddles won't work sir...

According to posts on other forums they will, I've got the looms. Apparently it's been done before. No biggie if it can't. It was the wheel I wanted, not the paddles. They were just gonna be a bonus.

Doing a bit more research it may only be the s/c it works on. Gotta be worth a look mind? Or has it been tried?

The 3.6 won't initiate the paddles as the software is different to that of the SC all be it with the same gearbox... So, NO sir they won't work with a 3.6 using an IID tool...

Tried and tested for Patrick back a couple of years ago to no avail Big Cry

Quality. Another failed mission. Still, I got what I wanted. A new wheel at a fraction of the original cost. Just got some nice illuminated paddle ornaments on it.

Craig, its a good job you came along before I wasted loads of money on a iid tool. Oh wait!!! Embarassed

Ha, no I wanted one any way. It's a shame that there is no work around as it would be a neat little upgrade. I wouldn't have bothered, it was just that the new wheel had them on.

Suppose I'll have to fit a new engine a gear box now just so I can get them to work, seems like the only logical thing to do.

Basically Steve, the gearbox and software in your car is the same as an 07my> so were never built to take paddles my friend... Not until the 4.4 came along did JLR use paddles Thumbs Up

They can of course (like many have done) be wired up as a "retro fit item" Thumbs Up

Hope that makes things clearer sir Thumbs Up
