I checked the owners hand book first ,and then drained the diff oil into a clear jug.

Just had a quick look under the car. The front diff I'd covered by the under trays so I had a look at the rear. I can see the drain plug but can find the fill plug anywhere ? Think I will order the oil and get my local garage to change it ( on a ramp ) . Craig is the best way to go about putting the right amount of oil in just to measure the amount that comes out ? Clean the areas around the plugs then remove filler plug (highest plug) first, remove drain plug (lowest plug) and let the oil drain into a container, basin or whatever you have. replace the drain plug and fill the diff with the appropriate oil until it flows out the filler plug, leave to settle for a few minutes and to allow any excess to drain then replace the filler plug. Job done and should take 15-20 minutes.

Absolutely not Mark... You never know if the last person put the correct amount in! The diffs take an amount of oil... Not fill till it runs out... So, make sure you measure the amount you put into the diff sir |

That's the thing, I'm having a problem finding out the quantity of oil the diff requires. As mine is the ajv8 4.4 there seems to be less info out there on these as opposed to the 4.2 sc and td v8 .
