Interesting Classic

V Reg Range Rover Classic ??

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-300T...673wt_1233

Owner states -

I’ve never seen one registered so late before, and I presume this must have spent its early life either outside the UK or in military service, although the V5 states first registered 1999 and not ‘previously used’

Any ideas?? Regards
Mark

This car was for sale this time last year at a dealer - £ 7k rings a bell ?
I nearly travelled a considerable distance to view, but judging from this current ad's description I'm glad I didn't !
It's a shame it's so rotten as it looks a nice car - I reckon bidders will go a wee bit giddy on the bidding . . .
Also for sale at the same time last year was a '99 T registered identical car - even the same colour & spec. It was at the opposite end of the country yet was advertised as rotten. The two must have been related in some way.
It's unusual as it has no airbags just a plain steering wheel. These cars in this spec are the standard spec in mainland Europe - there's several for sale in Portugal (but without the rot !).
Never seen a RHD car though - I reckon it may have been a Diplomatic car ?
Any more theories out there ?!

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Baltic Blue

I know the guy who used to own this car until recently... He's a member on a Citroen club I frequent. He had a Citroen SM, XM, Mercedes 190E Cosworth and the Range Rover amongst a few other things I believe. I saw it in the background of one of his pictures and asked him about it.

David - it was manufactured and then retained by Land Rover for 4 years before being registered. Judging by the bodywork, I think they must have used it as their salt water test vehicle! It could be superb, the 300tdi diesel engine (with Bosch pump) is a gem, but I am having a fight with the supplying dealer as to their responsibility for paying for the necessary remedial work. Anyway, it is going to become my machine polish test vehicle!

Have just messaged him tonight and asked how bad it is...

Here's the reply I got...

Quote:

Hi David

Yes it’s mine (or was) - it’s utterly rotten under the skin, and that’s the bits you can see.

The dealer who took it (for rather less than he is getting - good as he needs to fix something on the car he sold me!) said it was the worst he’d seen.

Needs new inner wings all round, boot floor, front footwells, cross member, sills, brake pipes etc, plus whole load of other things, and that’s the bits you can see!

If you can handle welding yourself it’s viable. If not, run, don’t walk away!

Cheers

Charles

Shame really as it was quite tempting.

My 1994 300tdi Discovery was in that state when I bought it. In fact, the receipt said 'Sold as Scrap'. Shocked

It flew through its 4th MOT last week with the tester commenting it was the most solid example he's ever seen. Mr. Green
All thanks to a hefty purchase from YRM Metals and 6 months of restoration work. Cool

Ignore the indicators - they're a temporary fix whilst I source new fender brackets and headlight trim.

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green
