I think a lot of the issue is all of the leather in our cars is painted... So in essence, waterproof! Meaning products won't penetrate the topcoat...

So, what about a stain protectant coating?

Don't wear jeans, wondered what was happening to the drivers seat until I realised it was the dye rubbing off. Comes off easy I suppose.

Ok here is what our leather expert does:

Warm soapy water gentle rub with a sponge or similar. Dry off with soft cloth.

That's it....

Damage if present is repaired with matching Connelly paints.

PS: Nice interior where did you get that lovely example?

About the only thing that keeps them clean is seat covers.

Even as a dealer I am against seat covers. The whole point of any luxury vehicle is to enjoy them not save them for the next guy. With a little care and bothering to lift you bum when you get in/out and wearing clean clothes (not brain science) its easy to keep an ivory interior looking like new. Seats can only get dirty if something dirty is applied to them.

Thanks for the input - I had assumed I'd need some expensive cleaning/feeding products, but I'm all for simple solutions

I accept that it isn't the most practical colour, but when its clean (like the rest of the car) it looks fantastic, plus I've got the Defender to "take the hammer"

A friend of mine has a 2014 405 with Sirus leather... Has done 3000 mile in 6 months (in a business suit) and it looks 3-5yrs old inside already!

I bought one, applied a bit last w/e to test it and it has noticeably improved the colour. Not made it shiny, just brought it back to the proper colour (Ivory in my case). Comes with a cleaning fluid and a tub of paste of the relevant colour.

I use the Leather Ultra Clean on leathers with 1:1 water/cleaner with excellent results.

get a 1-liter spray and it will last for months.

I not only use it on leather but even on knobs and some plastic parts (again cut it with as much water as products otherwise it is a bit too strong), it does get the dirt off everything, expecially with a little brush or microfiber sponge.

simply wipe with a micro fiber, then again with a damp, clean microfiber

I have to say that these really are magic..they seem to remove marks / dirt from any surface and all with just water (slightly dampen before use). SWMBO can get them from most supermarkets.

Been using those for years Paul and they really are good, don't use them on any polished or shiny surface though as they are abrasive and will send piano black to satin black.... Pete
