grrrr.SWMBO.

Swmbo has managed to drive in to the back of someone in a queue of traffic... Rolling Eyes fortunately in the Skoda.... Very Happy

not the first time probably won't be the last. happened to be a network rail van, which is both good and bad, chap didn't seem too bothered but no way to chuck it into my mates body shop for the repair which is what i normally do when she hits something. Its annoying as now she is pretty much zeroed my NCD on that car. which again is a pain in the £$£$.

Damage to the Skoda is minimal hasn't even cracked the plastic on the bumper, but has cracked the number plate (which was new from the las time) quick respray which was needed anyway will sort it. Hope the damage isn't much on the van, but as the crash panel on the skoda is right behind the bumper i suspect the damage is worse on the van than on the car Big Cry quick £80 respray will sort the skoda out but i suspect a claim is coming our way from the fleet manager (bt fleet) for the van.

i am waiting to hear from the insurance about any claims and as I don't have the reg of the van (didn't get it) i don't have much to tell them..... Have tried to call the chap but no answer, so will wait and see if fleet management get in touch with our insurers. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Just spoke to chappie, seems to have just bent the handistep on the back of his van, which would be a couple of hundred quids, but they will claim...... which is just great.... Big Cry There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Drop me a PM if you don't hear anything from Network Rail. I can at least get a point of contact within Network Rail at Derby if you need one.

cheers chaps.

hopefully it will be sensible pragmatic fleet manager who is dealing with it. I will give bt fleet who manage rt vehicles a ring in the morning with the details. Hopefully they can see sense and i can Pay for it cash money.

only thing is the blame claim if i don't notify insurance then if he makes a "whiplash" claim it will look a bit sus....... I suppose this is why we have insurance in the first place.

I will just have to take her car off her. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter like that going to happen Big Cry but from now on its going in her name with me as a named driver. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Network Rail won't entertain 'cash repairs' or third party repair centres.
I categorically guarantee it'll all be dealt with in the full and proper way via their insurance.
Chances are they don't even own the vehicles, as most are leased.

Yeah, leased from BT fleet, its not a problem being dealt with via insurance, juts will probably cost me more when the insurance increases on her car than the new step will cost to be fitted.....

Hey ho thats life.

A but apparently she is in a bad mood with me as i wasn't sympathetic enough.. Big Cry There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

BT Fleet are the contract hire and leasing company. It originated from BT setting up their own vehicle fleet management arm, realising they were good at managing vehicles with complex operating requirements and that volume equals purchasing power so they offer their vehicle management services to other customers in various sectors. They are in competition with the likes of Lex Autolease, LeasePlan etc.

As mentioned, a cash deal is likely to be next impossible but equally I would say that it's very unlikely that they will pursue the usual whiplash, replacement vehicle, loss of earning claims that the ambulance chasers who advertise in daytime TV would go after. I think you'll just have to wait and see what happens, you may well hear nothing. 2006 4.2 SC

thats the plan, I would hazard a guess that they have plenty of these steps in stock at their authorised repairer and from experience (i have one on my Master) they are easily pranged even if they have sensors in them. so if there is no damage to the rest of the vehicle then it should be an easy fix for them, simply swap the step for an new one. It was on an 11 plate tranny so should easily bolt off and a new one bolt on in its place.

Chap didn't seem to think it had affected the doors, which is good and as it was a 115 T350 it is a rear wheel drive one with a slightly more substantial chassis than the fwd version, and the step bolts to the tow bar fix points which are on the integral chassis rails so chance of damaging them is small.

Will just sit tight and wait to hear what happens. To be honest the skoda needed to go into the body shop for the front and rear bumpers in any case, so no harm no foul on our car......though i won't be claiming as the excess is more than the repair will cost me Whistle There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Managed to get through to qbe who insure the vehicles for network rail, and they were actually helpful. They hadn't been notified of the claim at that point but opened a file, and made a note that I was happy to settle direct, actually got to speak to the claims management team, so said it should be possible to deal directly with me rather than our insurers. Which is reassuring!

I wait with baited breath! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Could cover it in old tyres. That method generally works well with boats. Mr. Green
