I'm no expert but it has a wiring harness going to it so would think oil temp / pressure sensor perhaps? Maybe even oil level ?

Managed to get a few part numbers of the part and the clip GG23 On the part and 11246 on the clip. Tried googling the numbers but no joy. Taking the car to my local mechanic on Monday for him to take a look. Range Rover Vogue 2006 4.4 AJV8 | Buckingham Blue | Parchment Leather | Supercharged Grill+Side Vents | CA02 HEY ( NOT 02 PLATE )

£7,000 = 20,000 miles of fuel (give or take) in an SC.

Man Maths at its best! Thumbs Up

Remember, you would still have to fuel the diesel. So the mans math is: cost of fuel for SC - cost of fuel for equivalent diesel = £7000. That's a LONG way, even at UK fuel prices.
