Scotland 2002 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Oslo Blue
Electrical thermostat circuit fault

V8 4.4 Lpg using IID non bt tool whilst idling got the above fault, vehicle appears great in all modes, no trans probs. is this possibly part of the LPG BRC install, or should I change thermostat asap or is there a way to check the electronics? I have done a search here, but any advice would be welcome

get it warm and look at the live readings to see how hot its realy getting
it may have had the electric stat down to earth mod on it to help it run cooler as its on LPG

may be nothing to worry about

Could just be it's been unplugged, or there is a known fault that water leaks into the plug, then wicks it's way up the wires and into the engine ECU and rots the ECU out as well.... so check the wiring and plug, if it is fitted, it's directly below the air intake pipe where it goes into the manifold, much easier if you remove this pipe first.... Pete

Thanks will check live values, and physical plug condition, seems to be a lot of info to lower temp by modifying housing and changing thermostat

Yep, it just runs so hot as standard, can't be good for an aging engine, also helps with all the plastic and rubber items under the bonnet...

Mine "seems" to run nicer at around 90deg instead of the 110 it used to run at...

See the last page on this thread, seems to be the easiest way to do it, you have to grind the old stat out, a dremel works well....

I've now got that fault you mention all the time but it doesn't throw on the MIL and seems to have no effect on anything else... Pete
