1965 mini van, the one with the floor button start and long gear lever! My dad got it for £25 off a work ate and we spent a month or so rebuilding it completely, put in side windows, 5j steel wheels, bucket seats etc. it got creamed by a Dawsons Music van in Warrington, so ended up with a 1980 mini 1000, usual buckets, small steering wheel, 6" fibreglass whip aerial! |

Must of been a better car than you thought, great days and dodgy cars, was in a MK1 GTI recently which was an early car of mine (1, and was amazed how small it was, cant believe it. We are so pampered these days |

If it was anything like my old series 2A, I wouldn't want it back, way too many ball joints in the steering to go in a straight line for me! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I was 16 at the time and desperate for a car so I bought CUS 9B a 1964 Hillman Super Minx, cost me a fiver but there was no engine in it. Bought a second hand engine at the scrapyard and fitted it, then dad took the car into town and it stalled at every set of lights, turned out the 'new engine was burning as much oil as it was petrol

Interesting Gary, I had a Triumph Herald 1250 as my first car after a year of riding motorbikes. A well restored one and I learned my first car repair and maintenance skills on it. Easiest car in the world to work on !!! Many cars after that.
