I'm willing to go along with ebajema's recommendation of leniency. I had a woman turn in front of me while I was in a pedestrian crossing yesterday. It was slow, not scary, and when she did (finally) see me she immediately stopped, so I wouldn't have been hit even if I had of been further into the crossing. She looked right at me and I could see her mouthing, "Oh my god! I am SO sorry." It's hard be angry when someone is apologizing to you.
I've only been to the UK once where I've been driving. I was very pleased to have a RHD rental car as I knew, if it weren't for the constant reminder from the steering wheel, I'd have been on the wrong side of the road before I knew it. Having driven a few English RHD exports here, I'm much better in a RHD car driving on the right than in a LHD car trying to drive on the left because I'm just so used to driving on the right.
