Are you confident the battery is fully charged and in tip top condition? I'm thinking a voltage drop as the heater starts up could be triggering the alarm. Previously..

That had crossed my mind but it was in at land rover this week and I asked them to check the battery with their wizardry machine. They said it was good and in need of a good charge. Which I did over the weekend and it was back in this week again to finish off a warranty job and I asked them to recheck it and it came back very good 75% and they didn't recommend a change. But I'm thinking sack it get a new un on. A hard frost will shorten its life.

It's never going to get as hot under the bonnet as the engine running. If it were temperature related when you locked the car after a run then that would trigger the alarm... I would have thought.

Ok, it's firing off after about 10 mins of the FBH working. I've read on here that the FBH really takes the juice out of the battery. |

Genuine question - why would a FBH put strain on the battery if it's using diesel fuel and not battery power to generate the heat...? |

Runs quite a few electrical systems as well, there are valves involved and the fans in the cabin run along with the water pump in the fbh and the diesel pump in the rear, also several ecu's fire up to monitor temps.

Makes sense now you've listed what it uses.

My car has had a long a complex problem with the FBH/park heating failures but that aside, one of the things LR advised me during one of the many fixes they applied, was that alarms triggering while the park heating is running is a known problem and there is a fix for it. Apparently the trigger is the warm air being pumped into the cabin by the FBH is fooling the alarm ultrasonics. The fix is a software upgrade to the relevant HeVAC / alarm systems. |
