Digital Photography....looking for a new camera

I will make this as snappy as possible....

I have an Olympus Pen EPL-1, its a micro 43 camera and after a host of 35mm and medium format in my younger times I am more than happy with it on the whole. I use a M.Zuiko 14-150mm lens and it makes a good package, but...

I want something more manual and with a lens that's slightly faster. I today had a look at an Olympus OMD EM10, and I loved the feel of it...like my old manual camera's...I had a Nikon FM2 for those photographers reading this. I also tried it with a new 'pro' series lens, the 12-40mm f2.8 - without going to prime lenses this seems to be a great piece of kit.

Question; with the above in mind, I'll add that size is key...I don't want a big DSLR. What do you folks use, do you like it, would you recommend it?

I am going to shortly be selling the Oly with the lens so if your in the market for a decent, but compact camera..I can recommend it ! Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Well I'm not sure about the replacement but could be interested in the Olympus if the price is right.

Where to go from the micro 4/3rds format is not easy as it gives almost DSLR performance for most people but without the bulk. I just bought the Nikon D750 but that's going to be way too big. It's a very solid performer though.

In the smaller size with decent sensor I was looking at the Sony RX100 Mk3 whcih I was about to buy from Hong Kong as it's so much cheaper than the UK. Warranty I can live without for the £300 saving. But the sensor is lovely and it has Zeiss optics along with the Bionz 4 processing. The test one I used gave me some superb results and best of all it fits the shirt pocket.

I am going to have a look at a secondhand Olympus OMD EM5 this evening with a couple of lenses that'd suit my needs and with the manual look and feel. If that deal happens I'll be selling mine. Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Hi Geoff,
I had a couple of OM10's and an OM2n - all great but made all the better for Zuiko lenses. I went to Minolta Dynax for an AF 35mm, but had (and still have) my Bronica ETRS....now I have gone digital the Oly stuff still attracts me.

Now you have sold that 2010 facelift I could do a deal for you Whistle Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I'm an old skool tog that likes manual control but also the convenience of letting the camera do the work when it's mounted on one of my airframes. I have found the Panasonic GH4 to be excellent for video and stills. it's that good at video it's regarded as the go-to lightweight broadcast camera for TV as it works in full widescreen 4k.
