The search for Life...

If there is life out there in the Milky Way it would probably want to eat us....

Could be a good reason to stop looking:

Why not just eat the milky way? There's loads of it, and it's tasty.

There must be other TIC's out there, the only hope we can have is that they are ethical and social more developed, so they can see us as potential intelligent and not as prey, food or danger, as we see every other species on our planet.

Douglas Adams, who always had the best turns of phrase, did an excellent summing up on intelligence in the universe.

“For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.”
― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Those words look a lot like John Lennon's
Asked at school what he wanted to be, being a grown up, he seem to have answered "happy"
The teacher said that he did not understand the question.
Lennon answered " No you don't understand life"
