ILRS at Preston as stated above do all my work however I've also heard good things about K Motors also.

I have heard good things about ILRS but my personal experience over the phone with them did not inspire confidence.
I continue to use K Motors as they've never given me any cause for concern.

However both (and others) should be able to give you a price over the phone for what appears to be a common enough job. Geoff

so the interesting question is how many of these do they do a month then

and yes if its the same indi garage.

Don't tell me geoff yours went in for an mot and failed it on the brake lines.

To the contrary ILRS did my mot and it passed with no advisories.

Doesn't necessarily mean much though I suppose.

2004 TD6 and to my knowledge no previous replacement of brake lines.

Yes 2nd opinion and price is a good idea.

Just in fairness, the most likely time any one will tell you your brake lines need doing is when you go for an MOT

BRAKE PIPES THE FULL LOT

FRONT SUSPENSION ARM BOTH SIDES HAS EXCESSIVE PLAY

NEARSIDE OUTER REAR SUSPENSION ARM HAS EXCESSIVE PLAY

PLAY IN STEERING RACK INNER JOINT.

that was it really, now i am in a mood.

Where was it's last MOT issued?

Any advisory notices issued last time? (you can check online for your vehicles history if you have not had it long) Howard

had it 3 years, no advisories and done 20,000 miles in that time.

never had any issues except for compressor and sat nav and the usual gearbox thud.

now i have a huge list

Did you have it MOT previously at same place?

Unusual no advisories issued previously given the fairly low mileage you do. To suddenly go to fail is a bit unusual as these days examiners are very keen to give advisories due to a change in the way they are being monitored by Big Bro Government.

There again it could be the examiner changed at the MOT station. I have seen that before going from nothing to a stream of advisories with a new examiner.

You could look at it like you got off lightly over last 3 years (don't suppose it helps much ) - sorry just thinking out loud. Mrs Smutt warns me against that because it upsets those around me at the time.

but suddenly to go to this i find it very strange so I'm going to get a second opinion

and get it mot'd somewhere else as i will be keeping it for a while so need to be sure

the work needs doing or its a mot tester who is very eager.
