I found a brand called Tracker (www.tracker.co.uk) that claims that using a VHF signal as well so the jammers don't help. Does anyone know them ? MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

A £5 hidden switch in the OBD plug wiring would have exactly the same effect
You will find the alarm and immobiliser system on almost all LR/RR models since 2004 are Thatcham approved (Defender + FL1 excluded) |

£5...Lol,!!!....for my £100k car..but I suppose I was working on the assumption that if their savvy enough to have the kit they might just work out if it's not working then there is a hidden switch........and probably wouldn't take them that long to find it!!!!! |

If they want the car they will likely have watched the car a little bit so could be aware of such a device.

Hey NMJ, I agree. I don't care about paying more or less for insurance, just as long as they either find the car or pay me back a decent amount. Depends on how badly the car has been damaged.

You can fit all sorts of extra security devices to your vehicle but if Insurers won't take this in to account when determining your premium then it's clear they are only interested in having us over for as much cash as possible. |

And your point is what? Just because they are thatcham approved! WOW! means very little in this day & age sir... As explained countless times above If they have the means to electronically steal your car, a poxy door lock's not going to stop them! Three of my customers cars have been opened using the door lock as an entry point!... If you know... You know! That is why more & more insurance companies insist on Trackers! |

Don't you think it's ironic that to protect your new FFRR you have to fit a Tracker and for piece of mind an imobiliser, that's like fitting a key with a chip in it! Progress? Keyless entry is a pain in the butt, it's not just L/R and BMW who's systems are sub standard, even the mighty Toyota plays up. Wont let you in, wont start, rejects the key as your going down the road. If you have the choice get the one with a key. The only anti theft device that I know of is a big angry dog in the car, but you then run the risk that the car will be eaten! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
