Moving from a L322 to a L405

Now I've been one of the most fervent detractors of the L405, I thought it was blingy, not as stately as the L322 and so on.
I've driven it for two days and now my opinion has somewhat changed. Although I still prefer the look of the L322 (I think it is a modern and more successful interpretation of the original Range Rover the new model can't match), I must say the new one drives much better, I surprised myself to actually enjoy the twisty bits whereas the L322 is feeling like a boat. You can drive much faster with the L405 without annoying your passengers. It feels less weighty while retaining the trade mark comfort of older Range Rovers. So although I'm not quite convinced of the more blingy looks yet, I do think it takes the Range Rover brand to another level as opposed to Evoque and Sport models.

Completely agree with your comments Thumbs Up

I'm back on a L322, 4.4. and don't really miss the L405. Use it for highway only and I'm happy. And you're right the L322 it's a more successful interpretation of the original.

What was the slogan again? "Don't change it but only make it better?"....well, for sure it's better but is has also been changed to much..

Think they're all look somewhat alike, Vogue, Sport, Evoque and even the new Discovery Big Cry But only my humble opinion of course Whistle

CSK, I've seen the pictures of your new toy....absolutely beautiful, nice colour combo, causaway with ivory interior Thumbs Up Bow down
The L405 starts to grow on me, although, yours is the first one that I really like, second choice probably nara or the new one that is replacing it, think it's called kaikura stone, haven't seen it in flesh though...

So far I've done approx. 1'000 a month, next one would probably be a charger Whistle

Thanks for the compliment! It took me a while for the new model to grow on me and I'm still very fond of the L322. I drove by my local dealer today and saw my old one on their courtyard and I must say it still looks the part.
Anyway, it is essentially the drive that convinced me to change. As you experienced it drives way better than the L322.
If I hadn't been in a position to buy the L405, I would have certainly been more than happy to keep the L322 for a lot longer or maybe for ever.

England 2012 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Santorini Black

I have recently changed from L322 to L405.Nothing was wrong with my old car and in 2 years i had only done 37k miles.
The deciding factor for me was the cars interior.

I always felt that the layout was too complicated, too many a/c buttons for example.
Also, the way the dashboard panels were laid wasn't what i would expect from a luxury marque. It lacked symmetry.

As I spend a minimum of 2 hours a day in the car how it functions and the interior environment are high up on my requirements.

My only gripe with the L405 interior is the loss of the fully foldable rear seats.(Although i must admit that on the few occasions that i sat in the rear of my L322 the bench seat was pretty uncomfortable)

I changed the car but at least I've been faithful to my engine choice!
Just back from a round trip to Belgium, you can't believe how much of an improvement the L405 is over the L322 until you've spent some time with the new one! It's like changing girlfriend I suppose! You don't know what you are missing till you change! Laughing
