I recently had my FFRR MOT done and to my horror they told me that the rear tyres where down to the cord on the inside and duly showed me, the tyres had only done 8000 miles and scrubbed to useless now, the garage told me i should get new one's fitted and get the 4 wheel alignment checked, this was done and the garage informed me who did the alignment that there was not enough adjustment to get it to Spec, we had a good look round and could not see and bent or damaged components on the rear of the car it does not seem to have any accident damage either on the rear end, has anyone got any idea's where to go to next with this problem, before buying the car 12 months ago it was HPI checked and came back clear so there has not been any reported damage to the car

i'd be tempted to go and get the alignment checked at another garage or tyre dealer and get a second opinion and i'd not mention what you have been told at the first garage .... ... - .- -.

As Stan says I would find another place to have the four wheel alignment checked try and find somewhere that uses Hunters kit as I am led to believe it is more accurate |

Rear hub bushes. Not had the issue myself, but it causes what you have when they are worn.

I have just got the paper work back from the garage that did the tracking and the rear off side can not be adjusted to well within the spec it is -0 45 Toe and can not be adjusted to within spec of 0 04 so something is stopping it from being adjusted have you any idea's all other measurements have been adjusted to within spec, should i have the garage take the whole of the rear off side suspension apart please let me know what you think? |

As Mark says it will be the top or bottom hub bushes/rose joints, they can be fairly worn before they start knocking, after I did mine it only just got to spec on the alignment at max adjustment... get the garage to check them for you, they aren't a lot of money and are straightforward to fit Pete

Hasn't got trailing arms, just big wishbones and a toe control arm and I don't think you could jack it up on that.... Pete

If it's inner edge my money would be on the top hub rose joint, coz that would be the way that the camber would be out on a loaded tyre, top pushed in. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Got the alignment fixed, had my mechanic strip the rear suspension down, while he did the disks, pads and hand brake, changed all the bushes for neoprene one's and put it all back together took it for a realignment again and all came out well this time, £460 lighter for the tyres and £400 for the labour, disks, pads and shoes but its all working well now, lol, time to move on to the gearbox oils and pan change and the engine oil and filters next, will i ever stop spending ???? thanks you guys for your input they all helped. |
