yep 15k seems about right for scorpions assuming you change them when they are still legal, I managed to get no more than 25 out of a set. Good Year Wranglers were almost the same wear rate - maybe a little better.

The RR's all vary in age and spec some petrol, some diesel... and are used for varying tasks by different drivers...

Vredestein Wintrac 4Xtreme are the business - I had them in the snow last winter and they grip like tarmac Very Happy On the road they grip like summer tyres. I thought they were quiet too..... Thumbs Up

The Wintrac 4Xtreme's and Nokian WRG2 SUV are probably the 2 "winter tyres" that you can keep on year round without seeing too much extra wear over the summer as they're quite dry bias.

If there's already snow expected in Scotland I'd certainly think about getting a proper set of winters on, as others have pointed out AT and MT tyres just don't cut it on compacted snow.

I have an 18 month old, 2000 miles set of GY MTR's and 2 winter's old, 4000 miles set of Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow tyres sitting in my garage so I'm not looking to buy another set. It looks like a set of GY MTR's on 19" D3 alloys could be going on the For Sale section to make some more space in the garage then. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Just spoken to my local tyre place and they cannot get hold of Vredestein Wintrac 4's as there hasn't been a production run yet...

Anyone else come across this??

I'm hearing plenty of reports of people trying to get winter tyres but no where having the stock. A lot of garages are expecting deliveries in the next few weeks and are taking back orders.

It's those darned ships again......................... Mr. Green
The tyres are generally made on the other side of the world and they don't fly them around and everybody is trying to get their Christmas stock into the USA and Europe at the moment so there is a worldwide shortage of containers for shipping them and a shortage of qualified officers to drive the ships. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

You can pay the local shop £10 a tyre to fit them - that's how I did it!

Just ordered a set of the Vredstein Wintrac from my Local dealers, he spoke to the importers on the phone, first 40 arriving in UK in October in 19" for FFRR Vogue, already 34 were sold (38 now with my 4!) The local dealer says he sold out of winter tyres last year by December and could not get more such was demand so if you want some order soon!!! D3's at work but FFRR at home!

Ummmmmmmm wonder how much a used set of Pirelli Scorpion Snow and Ice 19's on suitable RRS wheels might fetch seeing as I'll be spending most of the winter trading between Chennai and Shanghai.....................with stops in Singapore and Port Klang 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Just had a set of these fitted Very Happy Very Happy well impressed so far! Local dealer managed to get a set from the importer

What presures do you guys run them at on 18" wheels? According to the door post they are supposed to be 34/36 but looking at the Vredestein website it says 42/46 Shocked

LR recommended pressures, Vred's are too high imho - they are just playing safe - in manufacturers opinion its safer to run at max pressure than underinflated
