Having the SC front Brembo calipers serviced!

My original post re squeal from the front wheels was this:
http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post267288.html#267288

I've removed the February 2014 fitted Brembo pads, cleaned everything out and copper greased twice since then (which alleviates the issue for a while)... but this week the wheelbarrow squeak when driving in a straight line has returned (that squeak goes off as soon as the brakes are applied though). Additionally the brakes intermittently squeal when routinely braking to moderate/ slow stops.

Today I've booked the car in with a trusted mechanic to properly 'service' the front calipers in a couple of weeks and I know he'll do a proper job.

If that doesn't banish these drive me nuts noises, then what... replace the front pads with standard LR?

Additionally, I was today quoted to have the front Brembo calipers (if done whilst off the car) fully cosmetically refurb'd and powder coat finished in whatever flat gloss colour I want, for £40 (they charge £30 for the first caliper and £10 per caliper for each additional caliper thereafter). Not bad!

Been through most brands on customers cars & every time (almost without fail) they come back with complaints of squeaking, so now... I will only fit OE... Thumbs Up

Bow down Craig

So does the wheel barrow squeak come on when 'free wheeling' with non OE pads Craig (it's that particular recurring symptom that made me think it might be a sticking caliper)?

Apologies, wasn't ignoring your previous advice (you did clearly advise as to what to do), I just got confuddled with the symptoms on ours (wheelbarrow squeak whilst free wheeling) and became fixated on the sticking caliper theory.

@Mikey, PM sent with details of reputable company who say they will powder coat a pair of calipers for £40.

Thumbs Up

Stan, Brembo don't make pads... They use third party companies & i think OE ones are made of either much better or more suitable materials than the aftermarket brands... Neutral

Yes, wheel barrow squeak is normally the issue as are squealing brakes during use... Thumbs Up

Understood Craig, I'll buy a pair of OE front pads, fit them before my caliper 'service' appointment and make an informed decision before the caliper 'service' (though I'll probably have the caliper service done too as the chap doing it is A1, reasonable and it's another piece of preventative maintenance done).

Thanks

Thumbs Up
