Ok, so I've had the car since last Friday and am really enjoying it. But one thing is irritating and I haven't worked out how to change it: when I switch on the car, the heater/climate settings default to A/C on, AUTO on and the blower on about medium. I want it to be whatever I left it at the last time I switched off, which is A/C off, AUTO off and blower on 2nd position directed at the windscreen. Is this possible?

My 02 behaves as you want, whatever setting I leave it on remains in place on restart. So if you are newer than an '05, maybe a downgrade (upgrade???) is needed.

The important one is to have Auto OFF. (Both the dot and the bar LEDs) .

Why auto off ?

I do question the word "desired" in the above, I guess this is based upon the temperature settings made that Auto mode works to. .

Mine's an 2008. If I press the fan button, then it goes off auto. It doesn't reset to auto on restarting the car. If was on manual, it will stay manual. Some temperature changes will reset it to auto.

I'm really impressed with the hvac. I like the fact that, if I chose HOT on first startup with a cold engine, it will wait until there's some heat before starting the fan. I hate the blast of icy air I'd gotten in every previous car.

When I switch the car on, Auto is ON, the light is on and the bar on the Auto button is on. I then adjust the fan or direction manually and it goes into manual i.e. lights on the Auto button go off. However, when I turn the car off, go and live my one life and return to the car, it is back in Auto mode again.

Will have another play with it at the weekend.

i'm sure the owners manual explains the procedures ...

but mine is as above , use as manual and next time you start its still on manual...never use auto. ... - .- -.

I believe the logic behind this is that if a car has been parked up it starts kicking air out at an ok speed so as to get the cabin aired as it were. This helps clear windows and such like without much faff and the way i deal with it is as above, setting to manual rarely does mine or has it been used in full auto other than long trips  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Is it not an additional memory feature of the keys, i.e. automatic reset on the memory seat, steering column, mirrors, etc., dependent on which key is used to open/unlock the FF.

If SWMBO uses her key to unlock the FF, it also changes the settings on the HVAC as well as the seat, etc.
If I tjen use my key to unlock the FF, all the settings revert to my key memory, including the HVAC controls.

thats a thought , set the heating as you like it and then press the seat memory button.. ... - .- -.

It could be an MY06 function for the heating though as the changeover to the newer integrated systems occurred then. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
