I know there's been mixed opinions on which airbag supplier is better, but I'm about to replace the front airbags on my FF due to the gas struts inside the units being knackered.
I can get the front right and left units from Ribble Valley 4x4 for £417 delivered as a job lot, they're Dunlop units with a two year guarantee.
Or I can get two Delphi units from Island 4x4 for £500 delivered, don't know what guarantee there is on these though.

So, putting price aside, which are the better units, Dunlop or Delphi?

There have been issues with the Dunlop's in the past but they are apparently fixed now , Delphi's have always been OEM .

I replaced mine with Delphi units when mine needed doing. Never had an issue in the last 20 months.

The cost difference was much less then though.

The Dunlops have a guarantee, so you could go that route and fall back on the guarantee if needed. I think the issue was knocking over bumps at the top of the strut mount if I remember right.

Mine had Dunlops on when I got it, one burst and I fitted two Delphi's, they looked a far better unit than the Dunlops and the bag felt thicker, also I now have over 70mm more suspension travel with the Delphi's.... Pete

OEM are Delphi fronts and Conti air bags on the rear with Bilstein dampers (well for my '02 4.4 they are).
Given the fronts on mine lasted 12 years I went for OEM, for the sake of £80 I can't see the point of fitting something else unless they are known to be a lot better...which they aren't.
I got mine from Island too.

Got mine from Dan at Duckworths. Fast delivery and price was comparable.

Earlier this year I swapped my fronts for dunlops after the drivers side one popped .they've been fine so far.

I bought Delphi from Island 4x4 for the 2006 SC and they also couriered them to Nigeria. Very efficient. Delphis seem to have no issues and the Dunlops do have some issues just on the forum, let alone in the wider world of FFRR. I wouldn't take the risk for the bit of extra cost for the Delphis. If just one goes, then the difference in cost is gone. Maybe the risk is not high but the consequences can be (stranded somewhere remote, towing cost etc. etc.). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I fitted Dunlop to mine this summer after both the bags failed on a trip , I would have fitted Delphi if I was planning on keeping the FFRR for a long time, but mine is a working vehicle and as such will be retired before the 2 years are up! Personally if I was planing to run the car for 4 years+ then Delphi would be the way to go, but if your going to be upgrading in the next 2 years then I'd save the £100 ish  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Many thanks for the replies, there's plenty of good advice in all of your posts!!
I will give Dan a PM and see what he can do. The jury's still out on what brand to get, as the head says Delphi but the wallet says Dunlop. I'll be keeping the FF for quite a while yet, not planning on upgrading (unless I win the lottery of course!!) and I do a lot of miles every year, so think I may overrule the wallet and go for the Delphi's.
