I'd go 4.2 Supercharged for your budget

I wouldn't say the early cars are more prone to electrical issues. Yes the cars are the oldest, but the cars got more complex over time, adding all sorts of features.

imho for what its worth with your budget and needs, i would look for a good early 05-06 SC Vogue SE model. This imho is the most reliable, rust free, highly specced model with the least issues we see |

On a budget I would recommend a BMW 4.4 but with touchscreen sat nav (hybrid model).

I love the SC engined cars and the engines are virtually bulletproof. The gearboxes sometimes have a small issue but are still much more reliable than the TD6 boxes.

^ Agree Jag if you can find one but the Touchscreen (Hybrid) BMW V8 cars are a cheaper alternative if you can find a good one. |

Plenty of places will do a facelift for you - if you really like it, just factor that into your purchase price.... |

The Jag 4.4 seems to be very rare in the UK. The SC is much more common. That's why you have problems finding them. The Jag 4.4 is much more common in North America. I've no idea about importing one, but you'd have to live with LHD.
