Having now spent 2 months using the M1 to go to work and having to had braked hard on a couple of occasions, I now have brake judder, particularly at 50 mph and above.

I intend to replace disks and pads at the front.

ECP seem to list Textar, Eicher and Pagid.

I will also ask Dan for a price.

Have you folks had the above and cured with new disks ?

Any pref on make or other ideas ?

Are you sure it's not worn tyres or maybe a wheel weight missing? Might be worth a visual check first?

When you brake it affects the castor angle of the wheels temporarily, which if you have only lost a tiny weight it can sometimes appear to be brake judder. It's worth just taking a quick look at the wheels and tyres to see if there's anything there that might cause it as it's cheaper than brake discs. That said it does sound like either discs or pads have gone and should probably be replaced. Hopefully they aren't too new and it's the fact they are ready to be done rather than morons on our roads that've caused this?

The dealer I bought it from replaced rear disks and pads when I bought it about 3 years ago. No idea how long the fronts have been on to be honest.

Only done about 12000 mls in that time though.

I don't really brake hard, but when I had to it felt like the pedal was solid, and then seemingly without me changing pressure, the front really dipped down and the pedal moved further...... I think that's the emergency brake assist. Abs never came in.

I can feel the judder through the pedal and the steering.

Just had a quick look, the disks seem good, no lip on one side and only a slight lip on the other.

Brake dust shields are both loose though.

Didnt take wheels off, as its too piggin warm for that malarky.......

If all it takes to the disks up is a bit of hard braking, how is everyone else managing ?  2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Given the large amounts of brake dust I regularly remove from my wheels I reckon you've just been unfortunate. Maybe new pads will sort it?

I still have said judder, and am deciding whether to let garage do it or go diy.

I don't want britpart or to pay extra for the green oval on the box.

Should be good. But give dan a ring as the lr branded brembo discs for the tdv8 were only £50+vat a side last year. Poss less for the td6

Have a look at LRdirect as well our guys on here for parts, seem quite reasonable and usually have a decent selection, from LR branded kit to oem and down to britpArt. Though some britpart stuff is oem as they do their own stuff(the stuff known as part) as well as oem stuff from Delphi etc.

I would have a go at the discs yourself it's pretty simple if you are careful, just need to be mindful of the pad sensor.

I would check for binding calipers too if you have a lip one side and not the other, they are trw calipers after all.......
Check the relative thickness of the pAds as well as the usual heat test, as one thinner pad could point to a problem. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hi ya Bud! I have just spent the weekend swopping discs around on the Hang Over, part drilled slotted and warped, but thats another link!
Anyway my good bud next door, who is vauxhall trained and now working for the post office, told me to give the area around the locking screw a dam good thrashing. I couldn't find a whip, so I bashed the stuffing out of it with hammer of Thor! Better known as a copper and hide mallet, ex MGB wire wheel spanner.
The net result was the disc retaining screw, that everyone else seems to strip then drill and bash with screwdrivers and chisels, came out with no fuss, using a 6mm allen bit driver for the socket set. Sometimes bashing the cr*p out of things does more than make you feel better  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I've just ordered the Brembo kit from our illustrious site sponsors Advanced Factors.

The kit has the disks and pads, and some copper grease and thread lock.

Now, I see the inter web has thoughts about not greasing anything as it can't handle high temps well and goes thin and runs..... Is this true ? I will prob apply it to back and edges of pads anyway.

And also, I'd imagine one would put a bit on the sliders for the caliper, but RAVE says clearly DO NOT LUBRICATE. Is that right ?

I will also purchase some spray brake cleaner from Halfrauds as I understand the new disks will need a good clean before fitting......

As you can tell, I'm not a brake expert...
