Help required re lorry turbo !!

Speculative post I know but hopefully one of you clever chaps can help me.

Horselorry (Iveco 75E15) has just had a new turbo fitted and is now doing its best to get rid of the ozone layer, masses of grey smoke on throttle, none ticking over, garage man is not helping at this point saying call me if it doesn't get better, It was picked up yesterday and has done c. 75 miles so I am sort of ruling out too much oil, unfortunately it is with my daughter in the Cotswolds so I cant see it myself

It passed its plating (MOT) last week, before turbo went?!?

Any views would be much appreciated
Cheers

Why did it have a new turbo....??

Could be head gasket gone if it got hot, oil feed to turbo blocked, turbo seals (if not built properly) or injection pump out of tune (this would give poor running as well)

If the old turbo blew up then that opens a can of worms as the debris can cause all sorts of other problems... Pete

Thanks Pete, as I mentioned it is down south with daughter who is a bit of a bimbo (her words not mine). I am at a bit of a loss as not with the vehicle. Apparently it went in for plating, passed then turbo blew, as a sceptical person it annoys me but we are still in this position, bloody annoying Thumbs Up

Are you (or she) confident on the colour of the smoke? If it were white that would imply water getting into the combustion chambers which would point at head gasket.

Did the garage do anything else but the testing? I had one that was meant to be a simple service but they dropped a washer into the air filter (wrong side) and goosed the turbo.

Grey / blue smoke would point at oil. How "bimboish" is she? Any chance of taking the output pipe of the turbo off too seeiif there's oil in i?
